Time for a new blog post, lots going on these days.
Our Kenya trip leader said to be prepared for these days before the trip to be filled with difficulties and challenges. Tends to go that way. As far as we're concerned, he's right!
There was talk that our flight from London to Nairobi would be canceled because British Air staff was planning to strike. Luckily, turned out that a court blocked the strike (woo justice system!). Buuut, the ground staff apparently can still strike. Which means we're supposed to pack our carry on bag carefully, as the checked bag may not make it.
Also, we were $400 away from having Kenya things all paid up... then Dude got sick. Now we're scrambling a little. Dude started throwing up Wednesday, he spent all day at the vet Thursday. They said his red blood cell to serum ratio was off, and they had to inject a bunch of fluids under his skin. poor buddy. He was pretty sick, lots of dry heaving and shaking and the like. But, a few vet bills later, it's looking like he's starting to feel a bit better. That was some stress, for sure. And I know it doesn't even compare to similar issues in parenting. oh boy...
Getting ready to leave is proving to be a bit stressful. Loooong list of things to do. Being away from Aaron Plumbing for such a time is cause for a touch of anxiety, though I'm confident Tim and Missy and the team will have it under control. Probably should be doing some praying and meditating. No reason to be stressed. The AA serenity prayer comes to mind. “God, grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.” amen, yeah?
it's all going to work out. just trying to process it now. And what better way to process than to blog?
Happy weekend everyone, and Merry Christmas!!!!!
